The book of Hebrews can be one of the most difficult epistles in the New Testament because the writer assumes you are well acquainted with the Temple, priesthood, and the sacrificial system. In fact, the key to understanding Hebrews is to read it in light of Old Testament books such as Leviticus and Deuteronomy. This might seem like a lot of work, but the reward is certainly worth it. Suddenly, once we become familiar with the background information, Hebrews comes alive and expresses precious truths about our High Priest and the new covenant. But, that's not all, Hebrews is not merely abstract and doctrinal, it also contains powerful sections that urge us to hold fast, practice holiness, and enter into an intimate relationship with God through the accomplished work of Jesus Christ.
This class will be taught by Rev. Vince Finnegan, Rev. John Cortright, and Mr. Sean Finnegan Tuesday nights from 7:00 to 9:00 PM (May 5th to June 16th). If you have ever scratched your head while reading through Hebrews, this class may just provide you with the needed keys to unlock the marvelous riches that will not only draw you closer to our High Priest and the God he serves, but also spur you on to a more consecrated and fulfilling Christian walk.
